Mitsubishi Asian Children’s Enikki Festa

International Festival “Mitsubishi Asian Children’s Enikki Festa” was launched in 1990 and is conducted on biennia basis by National Federation of UNESCO Associations in Japan in cooperation with the Asian-Pacific Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations and with the support of Mitsubishi Public Affairs Committee.

Children aged 6 to 12 from countries such as Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Lao, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taipei, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Viet Nam are invited to present the diary “This is my life”.

This Festa started up “Mitsubishi Impression-Gallery-Festival of Asian Children’s Art” with the aim for cultural exchange and support for literacy education by means of Enikki (illustrated diaries), changed its name in 2006. Nowadays, the number of enikki sent by children from the launch of the project to the last 13th cycle of the Festival has reached a total number of over 700 000 entries. The exhibition of represented works has taken place all over Japan as well as overseas in order to promote international understanding among children in Asia.

The purpose of the International Festival “Mitsubishi Asian Children’s Enikki Festa” is to promote cultural and educational programs of UNESCO by establishing and preserving intercultural understanding through children’s art. The Mitsubishi Public Affairs Committee has supported this Enikki Festa so as to encourage children of Asia to understand and respect each other’s culture and to strive for a better future together.
