SPUP CES DIRECTOR PARTICIPATES IN 2019 WORLD HERITAGE EDUCATION AND ENCOUNTER

On April 13-21, 2019, Mrs. Noemi Cabaddu, (Director, Community Extension Services and Adviser, Paulinian Volunteers for Community Development-UNESCO Club) and participated in the 2019 World Heritage Education and Encounter (WHEN) organized by the National Association of UNESCO Clubs in the Philippines (NAUCP).

With the theme: “Traversing Through Indonesia’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites: A Journey Towards Understanding the Filipino-Indonesian Shared Values and History, it was endeavoured as a cultural immersion in Indonesia, particularly in the provinces of Jakarta, Bandung and Yogyakarta. It was also aimed at tracing shared-heritage between Filipino and Indonesian cultures in the quest towards ASEAN integration. The 10-day workshop and cultural immersion traversed the jewels of Indonesia.

The visit to Yogyakarta included the Tamansari Water Castle, Borobudur Temple, Prambanam Temple, and a quick stop Merapi Volcano. It was followed by a tour in the UNESCO Creative City of Bandung, where Indonesia’s entry to the Memory of the World Project of UNESCO the “Asian-African Conference Archives”, was documented; and a sight-seeing in Kawah-Putih (White Crater. The heritage tour was capped by a meeting with the Indonesian National Commission for UNESCO headed by Prof. Dr. Arief Rachman, the Executive Chair of the Indonesian National Commission for UNESCO-Ministry of Culture and Education, a lecture on Heritage Preservation by Indonesian Scholars and a visit to the “Monas”, Indonesia’s Historic National Monument.
